The house at 745 has red brick with "skinteled" mortar work, and a large one-story club room addition and huge fireplace on the North Phillips side. There is an arched front door with Spanish paneled door and steel casement windows throughout. The gabled roofs have English lines, and the entire large corner property is surrounded with a low brick retaining wall matching the house brick. The landscaping is lush and includes many large trees.

Mr. Cowan was manager of the local branch of the Southern Insurance Company.

Mr. Holmes was one of Oklahoma's most colorful and respected financial figures. At one time president of the Liberty National Bank of Oklahoma City, he organized and ran his own bank in Guthrie, Oklahoma. At the time of his death in 1953, he had 56 years of service in the banking community. He had held a key niche in Oklahoma City affairs for years, served on state and regional financial boards, helped pull the nation's banks through the depression and became a legendary sage to bankers throughout the state.

Mr. Houghton was in the insurance business. He was the son of Harry Houghton, president of the National Aid Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Tharpe was in the oil business.
