736 N.E. 18th Street

The house at 736 is a red brick mingle English style house with steep pitched roof lines. There is a dominant twin-clustered chimney, interesting half-timbering in the gables, and the windows are steel casements, unusual in this area.

Joseph Davis 1930-32
Frank Meadors 1932-41
Kenneth Ellison 1941-72
Dr. James Hammarsten 1972 -

Mr. Davis was the architect of this home and he liked it so well that he decided to live in it for a few years. He sold it to Frank Meadors.

Early in his life, Mr. Meadors owned the Downtown Chevrolet Company. However, when he lived at 736 N.E. 18th, he was in partnership with his brother and father in real estate and the oil business. His daughter married Ralph Bolen, son of H.L. Bolen of 625 N.E. 14th.

Mr. Ellison was owner of Consulting Geologist Engineering Firm and an independent oil and gas producer. He participated in drilling and operation of 161 wells, resulting in 41 dry holes and 120 producers, including discovery of three oil and gas fields and extensions of 15 existing fields. His son, Clark Ellison, also a geologist, moved into the home after his father's death.

Dr. Hammarsten was a physician, who was head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
