714 N.E. 18th Street

The house at 714 is a large deep red clinker brick house with a buttressed chimney capped with large stone brackets. There are two sets of paired arched windows ornamented with wrought iron flanking the chimney. The house has a hipped roof which extends over a two-story half-octagonal porch wing, the lower part having six arched openings sheltering French doors leading to the living room and steps leading to the driveway. This house has an extra lot on the east, like 719 N.E. 18th, and several large trees.

Mr. Darks was in the oil business.

Mr. Ricks was in the oil business.

Mr. Merrill was a partner with Tom Braniff in the Merrill-Braniff Insurance Company. Mr. Braniff decided to go into the air industry, but Mr. Merrill did not want to take the risk of such a venture. He became vice-president of the City National Bank (formerly Farmer's National Bank).
