600 N.E. 14th Street

600 N.E. 14th is an L-shaped buff brick with hipped red Spanish-tiled roof, facing both N.E. 14th Street and Lincoln Boulevard, with the entrance in the angle between. Carved stone "rope" detailing at the door ends in scrolla at the porch floor. This house has leaded glass windows, stone trim, wrought iron balcony railing and blue chimney pot-topped chimneys. It sits on a large lot surrounded by a pierced brick fence with gates on both streets.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Roe Sabin 1959 - ?

Mr. Dawson made the famous run into Oklahoma Territory. He established Dawson Produce Company at 5 N. Grand Street, later expanding to thirty-five such stores across the state. The house was designed and built for Mr. Dawson by Raybourn Smiser. Because of the unusual architecture, lovely garden and attractive landscaping, the home was an early time showplace for visitors.

Mr. and Mrs. Sabin, originally from New York state, came to Oklahoma City from Tulsa where Mr. Sabin was a real estate developer. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was with the State Highway Department until his death in 1959. Mrs. Bertha Sabin is a law school graduate and taught ballet and speech for many years. She was the first teacher of Maria Tallchief, the famous ballerina. She ran unsuccessfully at one time for the state legislature.
